No, you don't have to be a member of Short Story. Anyone can purchase a gift card for their petite loved one.
We offer gifts ranging from $50 to $1,000. Your giftee can use it toward anything she wants – her subscription fee or however many items she would like to keep from her box. (We typically recommend $150 at least as this covers our most popular kept items in a Short Story curation.)
No, our gift cards do not expire. Once delivered, your giftee can take as much time as she needs to fill out her style quiz. (However, we recommend she take it as soon as she gets it so we can get her styled ASAP 😉)
No, there aren’t any fees when you purchase a gift card.
Shipping is always free at Short Story - including our gift cards.

The gift card will be emailed to your giftee either immediately or on the date that you selected. If your giftee does not see the gift card in her inbox, we ask that she check her spam folder.
Your giftee can expect to receive her box 3-5 business days after she submits her style quiz.

We ask that you provide your credit card information just in case you want to purchase more than the value of your gift card. If you choose to keep less than the value of your gift card, your credit card will not be charged for the merchandise you purchase.
Once your gift card is redeemed, you can view your credit balance on your Account page.
Nope, that’s it! Once the gift card is delivered, your giftee will take the style quiz and our stylists here will take care of the rest. An ultra personalized gift without having to lift a finger, sign us up.
We’re confident you’ll adore the styles we’ve selected for you, but we understand that sometimes things don’t quite match up with your taste. If that’s the case, you’re welcome to return everything in the box (shipping and returns free always!), and your gift card balance can be applied to your next box. (Please note that a $25 styling fee will be deducted from your gift card balance.)
Yes, absolutely! Your gift card balance can be used toward any items you’d like to keep. (If the value of your gift card does not cover the full amount of your selected items, any remaining balance will simply be charged to your credit card.)
